Laurence has been and largely remains an aerospace engineer with almost 30 years of experience, having worked the first 2/3 of his career within large OEMs such as Smiths Aerospace (GE Aviation), SBAC (ADS) and Thales UK -where he specialised in strategic supply chain management and deep-tech innovation & adoption.
In 2013, he completed an MBA in Aviation at Brunel University and shortly after graduating launched his own startup aerospace company “Barrett Aerospace” in Singapore.
Over a decade later Barrett Aerospace has become a 'new space' disrupter, working on a raft of emerging technologies; from drone design-to-operations, electric aircraft, spacecraft and E-VTOL design. Their clients include Eviation, Rockwood Group (Vertical Aerospace), Nova Systems and Equatorial. Laurence’s latest business iteration includes cybersecurity, AI engineering development, Medivac aircraft design and the future setup of an UK incubator cluster.
Since 2018 Barrett aerospace has regularly taken on placement students and Laurence has also been a student mentor.
Laurence is entrepreneurial and believes that the best knowledge comes for learning from first principles. So doing the task no matter how difficult, or complex is the preferred goal.
