Prof. R. M. Lea will be pleased to discuss Multimedia Systems & Parallel Computing Technology project opportunities, involving hardware and/or software design and development, in the following areas:
1. Development, demonstration and evaluation of image analysis, volumetric data processing and visualisation (e.g. virtual reality) applications for PCs accommodating commercial off-the-shelf PCI parallel computing accelerator cards.
2. Specification, design, development and evaluation of cost-effective Internet solutions for remote on-line access to parallel computing visualisation servers.
3. Specification, design and implementation of user-friendly working environments (e.g. based on a GUI and API) for interactive volumetric data processing.
4. Specification, design and implementation of transparent parallel computer programming environments.
5. Design, emulation and evaluation of parallel computing image processing accelerators to be embedded in, or attached to, PC workstations.
6. Design and evaluation of reconfigurable parallel computing modules to be implemented with state-of-the-art VLSI DSP (Digital Signal Processing) chips.
7. Design and evaluation of reconfigurable parallel
computing modules to be implemented with state-of-the-art VLSI FPGA (Field-Programmable
Gate Arrays) chips.
