My first year has been very active as I have met new people and made some new friends. I like the whole idea of meeting new people because it's good to socialise especially when you are living on campus.
The Digital Media course has really increased my drive for design as a whole. The course is a hands-on course which combines both digital technology and creative design. The course covers coding, CGI, motion graphics, 3D animation, VFX, photography, you name it! It is very broad and you can literally branch out your options and see what catches your attention the most. I personally am more hooked on branding design – this is the area I would like to branch into (branding design is creating brand identities for businesses).
I find this course very interesting, and I am looking forward to build more on my knowledge and experience. This course is also related to the career field I would like to get into - which is design.
We are also able to use some advanced technology such as the VR room which is a very amazing room of Virtual Reality. We have not used that room to the full extent because we will be using more of it in our second year. We also use some cameras with have the best quality!
During the course so far, we have gone on fun trips. For example, we visited Kew Gardens for a photography trip, and it was really fun because of how many pictures we took of the plants. We learned how to take photos properly and how to make sure that the focus was correct with real Canon cameras. The pictures were to be added to a portfolio that we could show employers if we are to go into that field.
