Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel?
Since graduating from Brunel I've been working as a Senior School Nurse in East London and Essex.
What does a typical day at work involve for you?
Largely safeguarding children and young people.
What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?
Graduation at Brunel 1995 - one of the best days of my life!
How would you say your Brunel experience has helped you to get where you are today?
My confidence after graduating just grew and flourished. The course was incredible, the tutors amazing and my fellow nurses on the course were really friendly. I just wish I hadn't lost touch.
Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?
I chose Brunel because it was in London. The course was really well structured, and I learned so much; knowledge that I'm still using and imparting to others 25 years later.
What is your best memory of studying here?
The Law lectures with David Anderson-Ford.
If you could give one piece of advice to current Brunel students, what would that be?
Take care of yourself. Studying can take time to adjust to, if that makes sense. Rome wasn't built in a day! Ask questions, loads of questions, and remember, every question is valuable. And lastly, speak to someone if you're struggling; this may save your sanity, and even your life. Drink regular amounts of water every day, and walk every day, for exercise and pleasure, especially in nature. And lastly, good luck!
What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?
As above, take good care of yourself and of each other. Pace yourself, as I said, Rome wasn't built in a day!
