I chose to study this course at Brunel University London as it covered all areas of sport science whilst allowing me to specialise in human performance. The variety of assessment types including exams, presentations and written assignments also allowed me to demonstrate my strengths whilst working on my weaknesses.
I enjoyed the structure of the course. I have lectures to learn the theory and then practical sessions to physically transfer what I learn into action, followed by seminars to discuss the findings. This works well as it helps me to remember the information. I sign up to seminars, laboratory and practical sessions which suit my schedule allowing me to train.
I have enjoyed the psychological and coaching study blocks the most as I got to design a sports intervention and present a group presentation which made the modules more interactive and fun. I try to incorporate what I learn in the study blocks such as theories surrounding ‘choking under pressure’ and positive mental attitude into my training and competing to enhance my performance.
I've enjoyed a memorable 2018 BUCS Nationals, taking not only a gold in the women's 60m hurdles, but also the women's high jump, in addition to a bronze medal in the long jump!
