How has Brunel helped you grow personally and/or academically?
I have grown personally thanks to Brunel’s large international community of students which has allowed me to know people from different countries, learn about their cultures and expand my interpersonal relationships and my perspective. In addition, Brunel offers several seminars and talks related to my degree, lab practicals, and academic support that has helped me grow academically.
How does Brunel inspire you?
Brunel inspires me because of the great alumni who have finished university so prepared and achieved a lot in their careers. Furthermore, Brunel’s eagerness to always find ways to improve and give students better experiences is something I find fascinating.
How would you describe the Brunel community?
I would describe the Brunel community as a big, warm-hearted community. It welcomes students from all different countries and also, students, academics and staff are friendly, kind and always willing to help each other. Even alumni, who are not at the university anymore, keep connected with Brunel and are willing to come and share their experiences and advice with current students.
Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?
I chose to study at Brunel because I loved the programme for my degree, its modules and the placement option. I was also captivated by the statistics of successful students who have gone into their desired careers and jobs, and how well-prepared they were. I would recommend it to others exactly because of my last statement. Brunel offers a lot of support and guidance not only academically, but also in the professional area to prepare its students to face the workplace and also to have the initiative and knowledge to become entrepreneurs if they want to.
What's been the highlight of your Brunel journey so far?
The highlight of my Brunel journey has been the healthcare trip I made to Belgium during my 1st year. It was an opportunity offered by the university where a limited number of students from the Health Department would go to Leuven, Belgium, for 4 days and learn about healthcare and innovations, and also, all expenses were covered. What I loved the most about the trip is all the things I learnt and the students I shared the experience with. In a matter of 4 days, I feel we all became a big, close family. Best experience ever.
What are the most useful facilities at Brunel?
The most useful facilities for me are the gym, which is just 2 minutes away from my hall making it easy to keep motivated to go and stay active; the library of course, being the perfect place to find peace and quiet and allow myself to focus or even find any books I may need; and finally, cost cutter, the perfect small shop that has a little bit of everything, ready to save the day in case of emergency.
If you could give one piece of advice to current students thinking of joining Brunel, what would that be?
I would say that Brunel is completely worth it, and I could not be prouder of being part of it. If you are looking to grow and have a university life full of experiences, Brunel is your university. It provides you with so much love, support, fun and knowledge that not coming would be missing out on the chance of your life. When you come to Brunel it's like thousands of doors and windows opening in front of you, having so many amazing opportunities to choose from! How would I describe Brunel? In one word, Brilliant!
