The UK government is committed to integrating more renewable energy into the UK Energy Grid. However, the time variable nature of these energy sources compared to fossil fuels poses challenges to the capacity and stability of the Grid.
Dr Ahmed F. Zobaa reports on how Hosting Capacity Assessments can help the UK Energy Grid to meet these challenges.
Based on his findings, Dr Zobaa recommends that the UK government should:
- Establish and enforce a comprehensive Hosting Capacity assessment framework across the UK
- Increase support for innovative energy solutions for the Energy Grid
- Provide financial incentives and regulatory support to Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and renewable developers to encourage them to adopt Hosting Capacity assessments and advanced technologies
