Made in Brunel Alumni Evening
June has finally arrived, which can mean only one thing: it’s time for Made in Brunel!
At this year’s show, around 150 Engineering and Design students will display their final year projects which range from human-centred designs to innovations in transport, sustainability and reducing environmental impact.
The Made in Brunel Showcase will also feature our student designers’ fresh take on future directions and visions for well-known brands.
We would love you to join us at the Bargehouse for the special Made in Brunel Alumni Evening on Saturday 15 June, 6pm – 8.30pm. It is the perfect opportunity to meet old friends or network with new industry contacts, and most of all to be inspired by our students’ designs.
If you can’t make it to the Alumni Evening, the Showcase is open daily, 13 – 16 June 2013 from 10am to 6pm, so do drop in.
Accolades for Made in Brunel
At this year’s Alumni Evening we will also be celebrating the special awards recently bestowed upon two familiar faces.
Paul Turnock, or PT as you may know him, received a Brunel Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding, inspirational, industry-led teaching. The student-led awards acknowledged his “infectious passion for design, his character, dedication, knowledge and expertise.” One student said: “he pushes us to achieve our best and to keep Brunel as one of the top design universities in the country.” We have been overwhelmed with alumni tributes to PT in support of this award. If you would like to add to these, please do email us on alumni@brunel.ac.uk and we will pass your comments on. Better still, why not come and see him in person at the Alumni Evening?
Furthermore, Jordan Chitty, Project Coordinator for Made in Brunel 2007, was recently voted as Brunel’s Alumnus of the Year. Jordan’s continued involvement with the university provides invaluable placement and employment opportunities for our students and graduates. He also helped develop the Made in Brunel portfolio website. Jordan was nominated for being a great role-model by launching a successful business that nurtures Brunel talent, and for making a genuine and significant difference to the lives of our Engineering and Design students.
