Business Change alumna releases new book

Yvonne de Ville book launch hcropped

An author of two books about Change Management: Managing Change: The Science of Happy Endings and Cracking the Change Management Code, Brunel alumna Yvonne de Ville is helping to embrace change in our ever-evolving world.

This autumn, Yvonne de Ville (BSc Information Systems & Computing, 1999) released her second book Managing Change: The Science of Happy Endings, which defines what constitutes change and delves into the key change-driven challenges facing large organisations today. Yvonne explores ways to secure support from decision-makers and harness the power of your community to understand organisational culture and perfect the art of communication. The book also offers a comprehensive insight into artificial intelligence (AI) and an in-depth analysis of the metaverse world. Yvonne’s debut book Cracking the Change Management Code is a training guide for new change managers and project managers who want to learn more about the subject of change in large organisations.

Since graduating from Brunel, Yvonne’s career has gone from strength to strength and Yvonne is currently the Chair of Finance and FinTech Group with the Institute of Directors as well as being a Finance & Fintech Activist and a voice for women in Finance and Tech. As part of her role as the IoD Finance and FinTech chair, Yvonne engages with businesses and embassies to assist them in prompting and sharing Finance and FinTech initiatives. Yvonne organises events and participates in panel discussions connected with Finance, FinTech and diversity.

Looking back on her time at Brunel, Yvonne said: “Brunel University was recommended to me as one of the good universities to go to with a good technology campus. At the time, I was a single parent with a small son, and my only option was to get a good education that would guarantee me a good job to support us. I knew nothing about computers, and Computer Science wasn’t something I would ever dream of studying, but I saw that as a window of opportunity to secure a better future.

“I lived off campus whilst working and looking after my son, so I never had a chance to embrace campus life, but I attended all the lectures and seminars, sitting proudly in the first row. Finishing university and getting good grades was the only option for me. I am glad to say that I completed my university with 2:1 and managed to get my first job at PricewaterhouseCoopers on a graduate programme.”

Yvonne has over 20 years of experience supporting and managing international programmes and business changes/transformations within Nationwide, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, Barclays, Travelex, Clifford Chance, BP, Schroders, and PwC.
