Dr Alessio Malizia grant award

Dr Alessio Malizia awarded a research grant for research project entitled CallingYou (RingerDeg) – tangible user interfaces supporting social interactions among elderly people. This 1,000,000 NOK (£100k) project is funded by the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Science. The project duration is 24 months starting Autumn 2017. The research team is: PI - Prof. Weiqin Chen (Universal Design) Oslo and Akershus University, Co-I Dr Alessio Malizia (Computer Science) Brunel University London and Co-I Professor Kai Olsen (HCI) Molde University College.

In this project we propose to study how to employ tangible interfaces and the theory of designing meaningful interactions to expand everyday objects into digitally augmented interfaces that can provide the users with a feeling of social presence in contrast with the feeling of loneliness.
