On Tuesday 6 February, GE Aviation held a workshop with the Brunel Law School where students were taught the practical elements of negotiating contracts.
GE Aviation is a world-leading provider of commercial, military and business, and general aviation jet and turboprop engines and components. Tristan Chubb, Senior Counsel and Legal Team Leader for Europe at GE Aviation Legal Operation offered to bring in members of his team to facilitate the workshop.
The workshop gave Brunel Law School students real-life exposure to in-house commercial law, and allowed them to improve their negotiation skills during the pratical session.
Each of the GE Aviation team led a small group of students who acted as 'GE team' or 'customer', and had to negotiate to an agreed contract between them within an allotted timeframe. This practical exercise gave students the opportunity to ask a professional questions, get guidance on preparation of arguments, and hear tips on negotiating strategies.
The GE Aviation Legal Team will now select students who excelled at the workshop to join them in their Heathrow offices for a day, to learn more about the work they do, how they support the business, and to gain some insights from their business teams.
The Brunel Law School has an ongoing dedication to improving employability for its students. Study the Law LLB with us.
