Sergeant Arthur William Cole was the son of William and Eliza Cole. Before coming to Borough Road College he was an active member of his local church, being the secretary of the Sunday school and a member of the Band of Hope. Cole attended Borough Road College for two years, graduating with an Intermediate Science London. He is listed as being destined to return to a school in his native Glamorgan. Cole joined the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in September 1914. He died on 22 April 1918, possibly during the German spring offensive. He was 31 when he died.
