Biography

Second Lieutenant Clifford Holroyd was born to Edwin Jowett and Martha Holroyd. He attended Borough Road College for three years, graduating with a BA. Whilst at the college he was the vice-captain of the rugby club, cricket captain 1910-11, as well as being general chairman 1911-12. He is listed as being destined for a grammar school in Wellington. Holroyd joined the Inns of Court Officer Training Corps and was commissioned, initially as an instructor, at the OTC in April 1917. He died aged 23 on 3 May 1917.
