Biography

Second Lieutenant William Dunn was the son of Thomas Dunn and the husband of Olive Dunn. He attended Borough Road College for two years and was a prefect. He is listed as being destined for a school in Harringay. Dunn enlisted in the London Regiment and was later commissioned into the 7th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Dunn participated the evacuation of Hermies, where he led D Company and was engaged in “stiff rearguard action” on the Graincourt road flank. Dunn was killed on the 24 March 1918 whilst leading an attack. He had been in fierce fighting since 5am.
