Ealing Trailfinders and Brunel University have today announced a partnership with the Girls Rugby Club to help promote the growth of the female game in the area.
Ealing Trailfinders’ state of the art facility at Trailfinders Sports Club will become the first dedicated Girls Rugby Club Hub in the UK and play host to workshops, camps and residential training.
The Girls Rugby Club, which was founded by World Cup winner Rachael Burford, is a global club that has been built by girls for girls and helps develop pathways across the world by providing education, access and opportunities to meet and train with the stars of the game.
The partnership with Ealing Trailfinders adds to a partnership programme that has already seen the Girls Rugby Club work alongside Loughborough Lightning, Worcester Warriors, Harlequins and the Barbarians.
Steve Wagstaff, Head Coach of womens rugby at Ealing Trailfinders, said; “A partnership with the Girls Rugby Club and development of the Girls Rugby Club Hub at Ealing Trailfinders was a no brainer.
“Rachael and her team have created an incredible environment for girls to engage, learn and develop the game and we are excited to be able to welcome them to Ealing Trailfinders to aid with our pathway development.”
As part of the programme the Girls Rugby Club will be hosting camps at Ealing Trailfinders during every school holiday and are planning a residential training camp during the summer holidays.
Rachael Burford, founder of the Girls Rugby Club, added; “We are delighted to be partnering with Ealing Trailfinders at the early stages of their women’s rugby programme development and excited to have our first Girls Rugby Club Hub in the UK.
“We are working across the world to help continue to grow the game and create opportunities and amazing moments for girls to enjoy the game and to have a base at Ealing Trailfinders will provide us with some scope to help grow the game in the area.
“The facilities and development at Trailfinders Sports Club are outstanding and we are looking forward to welcoming the first group of girls there in May.”
