The national finals of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Design Challenge took place on Friday 5 October, at the IMechE Headquarters in London.
After being crowned the Greater London Regional champions in April, our students went on to win the Year 2 national prize, the second win in two years for our engineering students.
Dilan Patel, a member of the winning team, spoke proudly on his team’s achievement. ‘Winning this is a huge advance in our careers, making us more recognisable and ensuring we stand out from the crowd. This challenge is relevant to industry and helped us get praises from the likes of a managerial Head at Mercedes Benz High Performance Powertrain. ‘
Approximately 2000 engineering undergraduates across the UK take part, and this year’s brief challenged teams to design and build a device that can climb and descend the inside of a tall clear pipe.
Dilan and his team ‘encourage future students participating in the challenge to embrace it with full passion and determination.’
Congratulations to our winning team on their tremendous achievement!
