Brunel University London strengthened its bond with Nigeria in a milestone visit from Covenant University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Abiodun Adebayo.

Prof Adebayo was shown round Brunel’s advanced AI powered facilities, spoke to staff from different colleges and met Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof Jonathan Wastling.

The two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding – an agreement on how they aim to work together on sharing education, research, skills and creating opportunities for students and staff.

Covenant University is one of Africa’s leading private universities and has been running officially in Ota, Ogun State since 2002. It is noted for its education, research, international outlook, leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship. It ranked among the Top 10 best universities in the Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings 2023 and leads in five subject rankings among Nigerian universities, including engineering and computer science.

Prof Abiodun Adebayo’s visit marks a major step in strengthening international partnerships and fostering academic exchange between Brunel and universities in Nigeria.

“We are committed to working closely with Covenant University to ensure the success of our partnership,” said Senior Partnerships Officer Rasa Akelyte-Rashid. “Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of knowledge and make a positive impact on society, students, and staff.”
