Brunel University London's results in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2024 show continued year-on-year growth in the positivity ratings students give about their experience at Brunel.

The NSS, run by the Office for Students (OfS), is an independent survey that gathers final-year undergraduate students' opinions on the quality of their course and their experience during their studies. This year, nearly 346,000 students across the UK provided their feedback.

In the survey, students are asked core questions relating to various aspects of the student experience, which the OfS groups into themes.

Brunel's positivity scores increased for every NSS theme, and outstripped national increases for 6 out of the 7 main themes. Highlights include going up, in terms of percentage points:

  • +4% for Course Organisation & Management – now ranked 36th among all UK universities
  • +3% for Student Voice – now ranked 67th in the UK
  • +2% for Assessment & Feedback
  • +2% for Teaching
  • +2% for Learning Opportunities
  • +1% for Learning Resources.

The more detailed results show that more than half Brunel's subject areas have overall student positivity that exceeds national average. Seven Brunel subjects are in the top quartile nationally:

One of the biggest leaps in the subject-level statistics is that Brunel's new Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship returned 79% overall positivity across all questions, placing it +12% higher than the national average for apprenticeships.

Taken together, the results also showed that Brunel is among the top 40 pre-92 research-intensive universities in the UK.
