Brunel University London's first ever LGBT Pride March took place on 22 February, with a 30-strong contingent of students and staff marching through campus to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture and pride.
Prof William Leahy, Brunel's Vice-Provost for Students, Staff and Civic Engagement, joined the march as it wended its way from the Indoor Athletics Centre, down the main concourse to the square outside Isambard Studios.
The march was part of Brunel's event-filled celebration of LGBT History Month, arranged by the student LGBTA+ Society under the leadership of Finn Grice, the Union of Brunel Students' LGBT Officer – with full support of the LGBT Staff Network, co-ordinated by Dr Mike Thomas.
"As an LGBT ally, I was honoured to march alongside Brunel's LGBT staff and students," commented Prof Leahy.
"Our Pride March is an essential and necessarily visible way to celebrating the LGBT diversity we have here at Brunel, and is part of our fair and inclusive ethos."
