Brunel University London's long-term commitment to the career development of researchers has been re-affirmed with the retention of its EU HR Excellence in Research Award, as announced yesterday by Vitae on behalf of the European Commission’s awarding panel.
For Brunel to retain the award, which it first received in 2011, Vitae holds a formal external review every four years to inspect the progress that has been made over the last two years alongside a forward-facing action plan for the next two years.
The award is an important mechanism for implementing the principles of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, the new version of which was published last year following a review chaired by Prof Julia Buckingham, and which the University signed up to last month.
The review submission was led by the Graduate School's Director Dr Tina Ramkalawan, supported by Vice-Provost for Research Prof Geoff Rodgers.
