Brunel Entrepreneur Wins Bright SCIdea 2025 with Groundbreaking Protein Tech

We're proud to celebrate Brunel entrepreneur Christopher D’Souza, whose startup ProPrep took the top prize at the prestigious Bright SCIdea 2025 final, hosted by the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) in London.

ProPrep is transforming the way protein-based medicines are developed by cutting down the time and cost it takes scientists to produce essential proteins. With the global protein production market expected to reach £84 billion by 2030, ProPrep’s innovation couldn’t be more timely.

Christopher stood out for his solo pitch and sharp focus on accelerating drug discovery. His win is not only a testament to his scientific insight, but also to his ability to bridge lab research with real-world business impact. The judges praised his commercial acumen, while the audience vote confirmed what we at Brunel already knew — he’s one to watch.

Christopher said: “This experience helped me move from being just a scientist to thinking commercially. The support throughout was phenomenal.”

We at the Brunel Entrepreneur Hub are thrilled to support innovators like Christopher and look forward to seeing where he takes ProPrep next.
