The Making of an Entrepreneur: Hear from well-known industry experts during our panel discussion and network at our Entrepreneur Hub Exhibition featuring our most recent outstanding entrepreneurs.
On Tuesday 17 January we held our annual showcase event here at the Entrepreneur Hub to celebrate all things entrepreneurship at Brunel University London.
Joined by over 100 attendees across the university, the event kick started with an energetic panel discussion on ‘The Making of an Entrepreneur’ featuring our carefully curated panellists contributing relevant insights from their unique experience and background, whilst also answering live questions from our audience.
The panel was facilitated by Andrew Mossop, founder of Student Skill Store and start-up mentor & communications expert.

- Rob Bourne, Student Marketing at Red Bull UK
Responsible for Student Marketing at Red Bull UK, Rob runs campaigns, competitions and events that are designed to give wiiings to students and their ideas. Red Bull Basement is no exception – a global innovator competition that invites students to submit a tech-based idea that could have a meaning impact on the world.

Kay Kukoyi CSM FITOL is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur and the CEO and Founder of Purposeful Group, an entrepreneurship, technology and digital skills & employability training company. Kay is the author of 5 books for entrepreneurs and SMEs, and has been recognised by the Financial Times & Inclusive Boards as one of the 100 Most Influential BAME Leaders in the UK Technology Sector.
- Geoff Rodgers, Brunel’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Enterprise and Employment
As Pro Vice-Chancellor Enterprise and Employment, Professor Rodgers is a member of the University’s Executive Team and provides strategic leadership to enhance the links and partnerships with external business, third sector and government organisations that further the university’s academic activity and employability of our students.
- Anil Puri, Brunel graduate, Founder of PetInstincts and Venture Builder Advisor at WeSprint
An award-winning entrepreneur with a background in Product Design Engineering. Currently the Founder and Director of Pet Instincts, a wellbeing-focused tech start-up that develops smart devices for home-alone pets as well as a PT Senior Venture Builder at WeSprint, a global venture building agency that specialises in advisory for commercial, investment and technology growth for new and established businesses.
After a very engaging panel discussion, we then showcased some of Brunel’s recent graduate and current student start-ups with outstanding innovations at our first ever exhibition, where our attendees could interact with our start-ups to be inspired by our entrepreneur’s’ entrepreneurial journeys to date and get first hand advice.

Attendees could enter our Brunel Entrepreneurs 2023 Prize Draw by voting for their favourite start-up featured at the exhibition to be in with the chance of winning a share of £1,000, where we later announced 10 winners, all taking home £100 each.
The evening ended with food and drinks, an abundance of networking between like-minded Brunel budding entrepreneurs, recent graduates and our guest speakers. First year student Louis Hitchcock provided freelance photography throughout the event capturing the atmosphere perfectly and recent graduate Jeffrey Oyinlola, the founder of Pick Up The Mic grabbed some super exciting content with our start-ups to be shared soon!
