At Brunel University, the Entrepreneur Hub celebrates the second year of successfully integrating entrepreneurship into the second-year maths module “Professional Development and Project Work.” This initiative aims to equip mathematics students with essential entrepreneurial skills, broadening their career perspectives.
Through a series of engaging sessions with our network of experts, students were introduced to entrepreneurial concepts and strategies. They were then assessed on their understanding of these principles as part of a comprehensive evaluation focused on employability skills. This interdisciplinary approach has not only enhanced their academic experience but also prepared them for diverse career opportunities.
The innovative projects developed by the students are a testament to the success of this initiative. Flo Kirsten-Foster created Exact Eats, an app that simplifies healthy shopping and meal budgeting. Humerah Saeed developed OncoFinance, a platform that helps cancer patients manage financial burdens. Lucy Watkins designed SaveXpert, an interactive app teaching children about money management.
Professor Stephen Langdon, Associate PVC – Academic Planning & Strategic Projects, praised the initiative: “Embedding entrepreneurship into MA2690 has been invaluable in broadening students’ vision of future employment possibilities. We look forward to further developing these ideas in the coming years.”
This collaboration highlights the importance of interdisciplinary learning and the positive impact it has on student development.
