Mind Hillingdon – Social Group Assistant

MIND in Hillingdon is an independent mental health charity providing services to individuals in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The organisation is a member of the National Association for Mental Health (MIND), and part of a network of over 100 organisations who adhere to the quality standards of governance, service delivery of Mind and provides trusted mental health services to their communities.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will be helping to support Hillingdon Mind staff by listening, talking, and interacting with participants. As a Social Group Assistant, you will acquire skills such as event planning and coordination, attention to detail, empathy, and understanding.

Typical duties include:

  • Providing a warm and friendly welcome to service users
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records and collecting small fees for attendance and refreshments
  • Supporting activities as an integral part of the group, including serving refreshments and assisting with cleaning up
  • Attending and actively participating in discussions and activities during the training sessions, providing feedback at the end of each session

 Please note, the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
