Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role you will support the Palliative and End of Life Care Team to provide support and a peaceful presence to patients who are in their last weeks, days or hours of life. As an End of Life Volunteer, you will enhance your empathy and compassion qualities, cultivate resilience and a sense of purpose as learning about the realities of life and death makes you get a deeper appreciation for the human experience.
Typical duties include:
- Providing companionship to patients who have been identified as nearing the end of their life
- Engaging in active listening and be attentive to patients' needs, concerns, and feelings.
- Ensuring comfort measures are in place so patient's physical needs are met
- Offering emotional support to both patients and their loved ones
Please note, this organisation requires a minimum 6 months commitment for 4 hours per week in addition to two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
