Family Friends is a charity dedicated to providing long-term practical and emotional help to families facing a variety of hardships. The organisation provides befriending services to disadvantaged families, boosting parenting confidence, reducing social isolation, and improving access to health and community services.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will provide connection and support to socially isolated adults and young people, building confidence and independence, or just being a listening ear. As a Digital Buddy, you will develop your communication skills and empathy, and work flexibly with your buddy to support their development.
Typical duties include:
- Contact your buddy on a regular basis, building a relationship of friendship and trust
- Engage in conversation, listening to any concerns or welfare issues that may come up in conversation
- Submit a session feedback form after each call
- Respect the autonomy and dignity of your buddy
Please note, this organisation requires a minimum 6 to 12 months commitment for 1 hour per week in addition to two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
