Just Like Us is a LGBT+ young people's charity working with schools and young people across the UK to ensure LGBT+ equality and inclusion. The organisation has an annual school diversity week in colleges, primary and secondary schools, LGBT+ inclusive educational resources, student-led pride groups and ambassador programme to speak in schools about allyship.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will take on a proactive and supportive role in promoting awareness, understanding, acceptance, and equality for LGBT+ individuals through delivering talks to schools and creating online media content. As an LGBT+ Ambassador for Schools Volunteer, you will learn a set of skills such as effective communication, content creation, public speaking, and education and training.
Typical duties include:
- Leading workshops and presentations in schools to educate students about LGBT+ identities, issues, and experiences
- Challenging stereotypes and misconceptions related to LGBT+ individuals
- Working to create inclusive environments where LGBT+ individuals feel safe and respected
- Creating online media such as blog posts, articles, or videos to raise awareness about LGBT+ issues, rights, and challenges.
Please note, the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
