BEfriend is a registered charity established in 1994. The organisation provides one-to-one volunteer befriending to people within the London Borough of Ealing who are socially isolated because of physical, sensory, cognitive or psychological impairment.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will support people in Ealing and Hounslow with mental health issues. As a Linked Minds Befriender, you will practise your communication skills, as well as develop a wider understanding of mental health and its impact.
Typical duties include:
- Visiting your client for 1-2 hours a week, providing companionship and encouraging their interests
- Empower your client to make positive choices about what they want to do
- Provide written feedback to the coordinator and raise concerns and queries when they occur
- Attend regular reviews and volunteer meetings
Please note, this organisation requires a minimum 12 months commitment for 2 hours per week in addition to two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
