Friends of Moorfields is a registered charity in the UK that helps raise funds and provides support by working closely with the hospital to enhance the research in eye care education such as eye conditions, ocular surgery, and the development of innovative techniques and therapies.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will be helping with queue management, chatting with patients in the waiting area, and taking them to their appointment. As a Clinic Support Volunteer, you will develop clear and compassionate communication, improving your ability to connect, empathise, and build positive relationships, also refining your organisational and time management skills.
Typical duties include:
- Greeting and welcoming patients as they arrive at the clinic
- Assisting in the check-in process, ensuring that paperwork is completed and appointments are confirmed
- Engaging in friendly conversations with patients to help alleviate any nervousness or boredom they may be experiencing
- Staying with patients throughout their visit when necessary
Please note, this organisation requires a minimum 6 months commitment for 3 hours per week in addition to two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
