The Turner’s House Trust is a charity committed to preserving and promoting Sandycombe Lodge, the country retreat built by the renowned landscape painter JM W. Turner. The organisation offers exhibitions, events, educational programmes, and guided tours so people can explore and learn more about Turner`s life, artistic practice, and the historical context of the property.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you engage with primary and secondary school pupils and their teachers, delivering informative and accessible interactions that foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the arts through Sandycombe Lodge. As a Learning Assistant Volunteer, you will gain valuable experience in art engagement, teaching, and communication, enhancing your skills and making a positive impact on the community.

Typical duties include:

  • Working alongside the Learning Officer in the planning phase of the educational programme 
  • Preparing and executing school workshops and outreach activities
  • Assisting in arranging the workshop area before sessions and helping with cleaning and resetting the space for the next group
  • Taking part in planning, preparing, and leading family-oriented activities during weekends and school holidays

Please note, this role requires a DBS check and the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
