Oak Farm Library - Digital Drop-in Volunteer

Details of the Charity:

Oak Farm Library is one of seventeen Hillingdon Borough libraries committed to the passion for reading and to providing trusted information to enrich and empower the community. The organisation offers access to a range of reading materials, reference resources, databases, and articles, as well as e-learning tools such as a free digital library for members.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will provide assistance for older residents with any technology-related questions or issues such as laptops, tablets, or basic ICT help. As a Digital Drop-in Volunteer, you will enhance your active listening, empathy, digital literacy, problem-solving, adaptive communication, and time management. 

Typical duties include:

  • Listening attentively to individuals' concerns, stories, and experiences
  • Helping individuals navigate digital platforms, troubleshoot technical issues, and improve their digital literacy
  • Providing a supportive and empathetic presence to individuals who may be facing challenges or seeking someone to talk to
  • Assisting with any setup required for the attendees

Please note, the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
