Friends of Moorfields is a registered charity in the UK that helps raise funds and provides support by working closely with the hospital to enhance the research in eye care education such as eye conditions, ocular surgery, and the development of innovative techniques and therapies.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will be calling patients ahead of time to remind them about their appointments and make sure they have all the information they need. As a Phone Support Volunteer, you will enhance your communication skills, active listening, empathy, and problem-solving abilities, while expanding your professional and social network.
Typical duties include:
- Providing phone support to patients by calling to remind them about their appointments
- Assisting patients with scheduling, rescheduling, or confirming appointments at the hospital
- Addressing any questions patients may have
- Offering a compassionate and understanding ear to patients who may be seeking emotional support
Please note, this organisation requires a minimum 6 months commitment for 3 hours per week in addition to two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
