Sea Cadets is a charity providing young people aged 9-18 with activities and opportunities to gain qualifications and life skills such as resilience, self-belief, and confidence. The organisation is based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy, and young people can join activities on and off the water, such as Drill, First Aid, Meteorology, Marine Engineering, Sailing, Kayaking, Canoeing, and Rowing.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will be overseeing the management and administration of the organisation's assets and resources to support its mission of providing maritime education, training, and personal development opportunities to young people. As a Trustee, you will gain strategic planning, financial management, and governance skills.
Typical duties include:
- Supporting the Unite Management Team (UMT) chair to manage a safe, effective, and successful sea cadet unit
- Assisting the UMT to ensure all unit activities and matters comply with appropriate regulations and Marine Society and Sea Cadet (MSSC) policies
- Helping the unit`s fundraising efforts
- Ensuring that all young people and instructors at the unit are engaged in fun and safe activities.
Please note, that the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 12 months for one hour, monthly or bi-monthly, on a weekday evening. The role also requires a DBS check.
