Hillingdon Friends of the Earth - Restarter Volunteer

Friends of the Earth Hillingdon is a local group campaigning to protect the environment, advocating for sustainable practices, and promoting environmental awareness. The organisation works closely with the Hillingdon Council on progressing their Climate Action Plan on Transport, Power & Energy, Buildings & Homes, Consumption & Waste, and Trees & Land-use.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will work alongside members of the public to repair broken items they might have, helping to boost their confidence so that they can acquire the skills to repair such items on their own in the future. As a Restarter Volunteer, you will actively contribute to minimizing electronic waste, engage with the local community, and further develop your expertise in electronics, repair, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Typical duties include:

  • Assisting and facilitating repair workshops or events
  • Sharing your knowledge and skills in electronics, repair, and troubleshooting 
  • Providing guidance to community members as they attempt to repair their electronic devices
  • Encouraging individuals to repair their electronics rather than replace them in the future

Please note, the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
