Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of more than 410,000 people living in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking, parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond. The organisation provides a whole range of services across its hospital sites. The majority of planned care, like day case, orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation services, is provided at Ashford Hospital, with more complex medical and surgical care and emergency services at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will help patients who have life-changing injuries or conditions. As a Rehabilitation Assist, you will acquire interpersonal and empathetic skills, as well as adaptability and organisational skills.
Typical duties include:
- Engaging patients by assisting with questions, reading to them, and fostering meaningful conversations to enhance their hospital experience
- Making drinks for patients, replenishing water, and assisting at meal times, ensuring patients' comfort and well-nourished state during their stay
- Cleaning and/or making beds, actively contributing to the cleanliness and comfort of patient spaces, promoting a hygienic and healing environment
- Stocking up trolleys/cupboards with necessary supplies, ensuring efficient operations, and facilitating patient mobility
Please note, this organisation requires a CV, a minimum 6 months commitment for 4 hours per week as well as two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
