AgeUK network includes over a hundred local AgeUKs, Age UK Friends, forums and an international subsidiary charity called Age International. Age UK Hillingdon, Harrow and Brent provide support, companionship and advice for older people. The organisation works closely with the three boroughs to protect the long-term interests of those over 60.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will provide digital skills training and support to older residents, enhancing their digital knowledge and confidence to improve overall well-being and independence, helping to reduce isolation. As a Digital Champion Volunteer, you will gain a set of skills such as teaching, communication, problem-solving, time management, and leadership.
Typical duties include:
- Providing one-to-one digital skill training and drop-in tutorials in the Cybercafé
- Preparing IT sessions and demonstrating on IT related areas such as ‘setting up email accounts’ / ‘how to use a tablet’ / shopping and banking online / Internet searches.
- Promoting the AgeUK H&F’s Staying Connected Service within the local area and sharing information about IT with senior residents in the borough.
- Explaining and demonstrating how to use the internet and technological devices i.e. tablets, smartphones, and laptops.
Please note, this role require a DBS check and the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
