Former Brunel student Anna Boniface became the first non-elite woman to cross the finish line at the London Marathon on Sunday, 23 April.
Anna studied BSc Physiotherapy at Brunel and graduated in 2013, she now works as a physiotherapist for the NHS.
A runner with Reading Athletics Club, Anna finished as the fifth British woman in the overall standings, including elites. She beat her personal best by seven minutes to finish in two hours 37 minutes, and won the English Athletics Championship race.
Success at this year's marathon has given Anna a boost, she said: "After yesterday's performance, I'm not sure what happens now, I'm going to see what happens but I'd like to target an international vest. Yesterday's performance was a big step in the right direction for that, and long term, running for Great Britain would be amazing."
"But this is all new for me, it's a learning curve and I don't want to set limits because it's almost like you're constantly exceeding them with running."
