Several members of the Brunel University London Ageing theme, including social work professor Holly Nelson-Becker, presented at the British Society of Gerontology 2017 Conference between 5-7 July 2017 in Swansea, Wales.
The social work presentation was titled 'Improving the Quality of Palliative Care for Older People: An Interprofessional Mentoring and Training Program'. This presentation featured a discussion of how interprofessional palliative training was developed across 20 regional healthcare systems in Chicago. Results showed that teams that included a social worker discharged more patients from the hospital to hospice programs.
During the conference Professor Christina Victor was also named winner of the 2017 British Society of Gerontology Outstanding Achievement Award!
