Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE, received one of six Honorary Doctorates at our recent Graduation Ceremony. Brunel awards Honorary Doctorates in recognition of outstanding scholarly achievement, service to the national or international community, service to Brunel, or service to the local community.
Kate, a BSc (Hons) Sports Science graduate in 2003, was captain of Team GB Hockey Women’s Team who won their first ever Olympic gold at Rio 2016. Her illustrious career includes 375 appearances for her country which delivered 19 medals, 49 goals and 13 years as GB and England Captain.
In 2017, she was awarded an OBE for services to hockey and now serves as an ambassador for the Women’s Sport Trust, supports disability hockey as an ambassador for Access Sport, and sits on the British and European Olympic Athlete’s Commissions.
