Ro is an assistive device that aims to improve the wellbeing of informal dementia caregivers through education. Ro uses voice recognition software which allows the user to directly ask the device questions, resulting in immediate dementia related information. The device can retrieve dementia-related information from trusted sources in the home or outside because of its WiFi connection and 3G. Ro’s minimal, user-friendly features allow elderly users to interact with the product at ease; it has large buttons, a landscape screen for reading text as well as quick, bullet-point answers. Ro is versatile; it has a navigation system if the user cannot hear or record the questions. To reach caregivers on low or no-income, Ro could be distributed through the NHS upon diagnosis of the person with dementia.
