Scopum
Scopum enhances the potential and usability of consumer UVB phototherapy products for Psoriasis treatment by combining emerging LED technology and user-centric product design.
Skin cells are commonly made and replaced every 3-4 weeks, but with Psoriasis, this process only takes 3-7 days, resulting in red outbreaks across the body. Phototherapy treatment is an incredibly successful treatment of Psoriasis as UV light penetrates the skin and has the ability to re-regulate the skin’s life-cycle. However, existing consumer products provide unnecessarily high exposure to UV, are not adaptable, and are mains-powered.
Scopum (derived from the Latin word for 'target') offers corrections to existing flawed designs, with an interchangeable product mask for different sized patches, allowing more targeted treatment to an isolated outbreak. In addition, the design has a rechargeable internal battery which was made possible by using UV LEDs as opposed to large light fixtures. Therefore, Scopum empowers its users to complete their skin treatment wherever they feel comfortable.
