Milennium Homes Developing a pervasive computing interface-environment to support independent living 'metastable' (i.e. elderly and infirm) individuals (£500K EPSRC/ DTI-Link project run by Brunel Institute of Biotechnology). We have developed the visual and speech-based interface designs for this, with two full-time research assistants assigned to the project. Completed, 2003. Designing for mobile and distributed work: technology use in remote settings EPSRC award in collaboration with Symbian Ltd (principal investigator: Mark Perry). The research examines how people use technological and non-technological tools for collaboration (i.e. CSCW) when away from their home office bases and where they are not co-located with colleagues. Completed, 2004 Groupsim EPSRC 'technology networks' project investigating collaboration and the use of groupware in the development of simulation modelling.
