Tristan Foot

Tristan is the University Secretary and General Counsel, a role he took in August 2023.  As the Secretary to the Council of Brunel, he is responsible for the governance of the institution and acts as a link between the non-executive members and the executive team.  Tristan also leads the teams responsible for governance, legal, privacy, student visa compliance, student complaints and academic appeals. 

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2003, Tristan has worked for educational institutions in private practice and then in-house, with a stint at the Department for Education in between.  Tristan established the legal department at Bath Spa University and then moved to the University of East London where he led the legal team and also performed the role of University Secretary.
