Teacher training for International English Teachers

Brunel Language Centre’s 2-week course aims to enhance participants’ teaching skills, methods and strategies in order to deliver engaging English classes to their pupils. The course is aimed at Secondary School teachers of English and offers insights into current methodology in the UK and guidance as to how to teach most effectively with the aim of maximising pupils’ progress in the English language.

Accredited by the British Council and listed by the English Language Gazette as a Centre of Excellence, Brunel Language Centre offers high-quality teaching, access to the state-of-the-art university campus and a friendly supportive learning environment.

Accommodation may be on campus or homestay.

This teacher training course is aimed at teachers of English at secondary level and and gives insight into current methodology in the UK. Participants will have the opportunity to:

evaluate current teaching materials;
gain a better understanding of the factors influencing fluency and accuracy;
gain a better understanding of barriers to learning;
explore a range of techniques to enhance learning;
reflect on and improve one’s own teaching practice;
explore the use of current technologies in the classroom;
develop formative and summative assessment activities;
enhance feedback and error correction techniques.

Participants will also have the opportunity to join our social programme, which includes weekly sporting and social activities and regular trips throughout the UK (e.g. Windsor Castle, Cambridge).
