Run in partnership with Brunel Law School and Professor David Rosen the three lunchtime session courses in November 2024 cover Litigation Essentials: Mastering Advocacy, Cross-Examination, Drafting, and Ethics.

Three, Two-hour seminars to attend either in person, or remotely at Brunel University during a Wednesday lunch hour between 12:00 and 14:00;
13th November, Introduction to Advocacy.
20th November, Introduction to cross-examination.
27th November, Drafting and Ethics.

Although we live in an ever-changing world of AI and technology, the skills are still required to present a case, and to persuade a Judge, have yet to change, whether attending courts and tribunals in person, or remotely.

Similarly, writing a good letter, still demands and requires a degree of formality, and attention to the tone and contents befitting both the writer, whom the writer represents, and the receiver of such communications, whist having regard to legal ethics, regulatory requirements, expectations of a court, and the law generally.

These represent the bedrock of any successful lawyer's toolkit, so anyone aspiring to practice law either in the UK or abroad will have to acquire and sharpen their advocacy, cross-examination, drafting and ethics skills.

Designed and delivered by Professor David Rosen, Professor of Professional Practice at the Law School, Brunel University of London and a solicitor-advocate with higher rights of audience (all proceedings), and principal of David Rosen & Co, of Lincoln’s Inn Fields.

Professor Rosen shares his experience in private practice with over 25 years’ of post-qualification experience having appeared in some of the largest cases in English legal history

With a unique blend of theoretical discussions and highly informative insights he draws from his extensive practical experience and are an opportunity for prospective lawyers not only to gain life-long foundational legal skills and knowledge, but also those that are easily transferable and as equally as relevant in other professions.
