Law LLB students have the opportunity to take part in a work placement, giving first-hand professional legal experience.
The Brunel Law School works closely with a dedicated placement tutor from the Professional Development Centre to facilitate opportunities for our students. This tutor will help you find your placement, and will help to prepare you with tips on applying and interviewing. Every placement student is also appointed an academic tutor from within the school to provide support, guidance and mentoring.
On your placement, you will gain valuable experience and come to appreciate and understand the dynamics of a challenging legal environment. Gaining exposure to court work, negotiations and legal drafting while working with clients is great real world preparation for entering the workplace. Our students have enjoyed placements in governmental departments, private practices, court and prosecution services, and in-house legal service.
Most of our placement opportunities are within the London area, giving you experience of the legal world in the heart of the capital. If you have a specific company or a different location in mind for your placement, you are also able to arrange this yourself subject to approval by our placements team.
Placements in legal environments strengthen your career prospects and give you the chance to try different types of law work, helping you to decide which specific area you would like to specialise in.
