ZerOclassikal presents:
THE BRUNEL SESSIONS
Brunel Arts and ZerOclassikal are excited to host an evening of live music featuring two incredible styles of South Asian Classical music.
Wednesday 5 February 2025 from 7.30pm
Eastern Gateway Auditorium
Brunel University London, Kingstone Lane, Uxbridge UB8 3PH
Brunel Arts and ZerOclassikal are excited to showcase two incredible styles of South Asian Classical music inspired from the North Indian continent Classical and Carnatic traditions, featuring emerging sitarist Amisha Karsan and veena player Bhairavi Shriananda, accompanied by mridangam player Sriram Shriananda.
Amisha is an emerging sitarist and composer who has been working with zerOclassikal for her professional development. Her passion for music drove her on to study BMus(Hons) Music Performance and Music Management at the London College of Music, where she started creating music with Sitar in original songs and instrumental tracks in the genres of Pop, Folk, Rock, and Fusion. Performing and composing music, she draws inspiration from the likes of Pandit Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar, The Beatles, AR Rahman and Niten Sawhney. Amisha has been part of the BBC Concert Orchestra where she performed at The Royal Festival Hall, a concert called Raga Mela - The Spirit of India blended with the West.
Bhairavi is a young musician who has been learning Veena from a very young age. She completed her Arangetram in 2004 and continues to participate in Carnatic programmes in solo and group performances. She has also played Veena as an accompaniment in Vocal and dance Arangetrams.
Sriram is a versatile musician who performed his Mridangam arangetram in January 2011 at the age of 13. Since then, Sriram has accompanied many young artists in the UK at their vocal, Veena and Bharatanatyam arangetrams and participated in a variety of Carnatic concerts. More recently, Sriram has performed at the Darbar Festival.
