Brunel Writers Talking Series: Beth Lincoln, Winner of the Nero Book Awards Children’s Fiction Award.

Brunel University of London is a very proud sponsor of the Nero Book Awards.

We are delighted to welcome Beth Lincoln, winner of the Children’s Fiction category in 2024, to the Brunel Writers Talking series. Beth will be interviewed about her work by Emma Filtness, a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Brunel.

Beth Lincoln was raised in a former Victorian railway station in the North of England. When she isn't writing, Beth is woodcarving, or making a mess of her flat, or talking the nearest ear off about unexplained occurrences. Her favourite things include ghosts, crisps, and weird old words like bumbershoot and zounderkite. On publication, The Swifts was awarded The Nero Award for Children’s fiction, the Barnes and Nobel Children’s Award, as well as being shortlisted for The Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.

The Swifts is Beth's debut novel born out of the Penguin Random House WriteNow programme – a nationwide campaign launched by Penguin Random House UK to ensure the books and authors they publish better reflect the society we live in.
