CCN Seminar series - Brain Rhythms and Health: Predicting Pain, Dementia, and inflammation through EEG

The EEG captures rhythmic activity from frequency-specific brain networks, reflecting the brain's functional architecture at rest and during cognitive tasks. In this talk, Dr. Ali Mazaheri will present findings from both healthy individuals and clinical populations, demonstrating how specific characteristics of brain rhythms—at rest and during tasks—can be used to: • predict an individual’s likelihood of experiencing severe pain after injury, • assess their susceptibility to Alzheimer’s dementia, and • evaluate the impact of inflammation on cognitive function. Dr. Ali Mazaheri will also discuss future directions for this research, highlighting both fundamental scientific questions and potential translational applications.
