'Migrating Fears': Brunel-supported film's screening

Professor Solon Solomon launches a film ‘Migrating Fears’ that exposes all the different sides of the migration debate. Funded by the Brunel University of London Public Engagement Fund (a grant initiative designed to support researchers in undertaking public engagement activity) ‘Migrating Fears’ premiered in September 2024 at the University. The film has already won several awards in festivals around the world. Having won the London International Filmmakers Festival, it will be screened online in the realms of the festival on 22 February before it goes to Berlin to compete at the Berlin Lift-Off Festival between 24 February and 16 March.

What is the film about? The film is a docu-drama focusing on Solomon’s quest to create bridges and dialogues as he interacts with friends, politicians, refugees and fellow academics. It is a bid to understand the trauma of refugees and asylum seekers as well as the reservations certain segments of the society express around migration. The soundtrack was also written and composed by Solon Solomon, winning the 'Best Original Music' award at the Swedish International Film Festival and receiving an honourable mention at the Global Film Festival Awards .
